Many years ago, I had a friend who was very beautiful. She had been a cheerleader for a professional American Football team (the Detroit Lions) and was the kind of woman who could walk into a room and briefly stop all conversation – she was that stunning.
And she was my kid’s favorite babysitter and almost always available to watch my children if my wife and I wanted to go out. Because guys didn’t ask her for dates. They would look at her and figure that they would get rejected because they weren’t good enough for her or because they would assume she just had to be in a relationship.
I introduced her to the guy she ended up marrying – a pretty average guy who was a U. S. Army sergeant. They are still happily married 30 plus years later.
